VIDEO CONFERENCE FACILITY LAUNCHED

ATHY ENTERPRISE CENTRE LAUNCHES STATE OF THE ART VIDEO CONFERENCE FACILITY

A fantastic new video conferencing facility became available at the Enterprise Centre on Thursday 14th December 2006.

The Conference Room at the Athy Community Enterprise Centre has been fitted with an Aethra Video Conference facility which will enable local business, community and educational groups to reach people in any corner of Ireland, Europe and the globe.

This new facility cost approximately €5,000 and has both ISDN and IP transmission abilities.

The inaugural transmission involved the delivery of a Higher and Further Education Course on Rural Development by Mr. Michael Kenny of NUI Maynooth to remote participants in Rhyl in North Wales and to local participants in Athy.

This transmission was one of the final initiatives to be undertaken under the Rhyl Athy Regeneration Project (RAR Project) - a cross border initiative between Kildare County Council and Denbighshire County Council in North Wales.

“This is a terrific new facility for the business and educational community in the Athy area” stated RAR Project Co-ordinator Arthur Lynch. “As Athy becomes more embedded in the Dublin Commuter Belt, Video Conferencing facilities brings a new positive dimension to Athy as a tele-working town. Facilities like these enable people to conduct business remotely, thereby cutting down on the need to travel to distant meetings” he stated.

“This new facility comes at a time when the Athy Community Enterprise Centre goes from strength to strength. After a slow start, the Athy Community Enterprise Centre is now fully occupied and catering for 15 new businesses in the Athy area.” stated Susie Owens of the RAR Project.

For further information about this new facility please contact the Enterprise Centre at 059-8634758 or Email: info@athycec.com.
